Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor

I am passionate about my work at CHARIS Counseling Associates. My practice focuses on moving towards complete wellness. Since 2007, I have been working with individuals, couples, and families. I see clients’ suffering from depression, anxiety, fear, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, divorce, infidelity, sex addiction, emotional/physical and economic abuse, career transitions, parenting issues, adoption, blended families, substance abuse, gambling and disabilities. I do my best to be directly and actively involved with each client. My heartfelt goal is for all of us to fulfill our life dreams.

I compassionately encourage all my clients to share their daily successes and challenges. Some of the treatment strategies I utilize include: reading or listening to CD’s to help promote self-development, assessments or even joining a specialized support group. The benefits and healing from group therapy can be monumental. Also, I strongly support clients’ seeing their primary care physician, psychiatrist, physician assistant or nurse practitioner. Some counseling strategies that I use include: sand tray, reading from the leading experts, assessments, Child Parent Relationship Training, Cognitive-Behavioral, Emotional Focused Therapy, and Solution Focused Techniques.

I graduated from Oregon State University in 1984. My teaching career with Portland Public Schools has greatly enhanced my counseling practice. I have taught refugees, exchange students, teen parents, and the homeless. It was a privilege to teach classes on: healthy relationships, prenatal health, parenting, substance abuse, domestic violence, family stress, loss and career development. I graduated in 2008 from George Fox University with a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have a Mental Health Counselor License in Washington State (LH 60536758) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon (C3567).

I am married and devoted to the love of my life. We have four adult children. All of them have completed college and are actively and happily pursuing their professional dreams.

During my time away from CHARIS, I enjoying listening to worship music, lap swimming, sprinting, yoga, wake boarding and water/snow skiing. I sincerely feel, we are all life long learners. I thoroughly enjoy reading and get clinical inspiration from attending continuing education counseling seminars on a wide variety of topics.

No matter how bleak or terrible our circumstances become in life. I firmly believe God is the Divine Healer and we should never give up HOPE. You may reach me at 360-891-2000 x115.
