ARIEL VILLASEÑOR | MA, LMHC, LPC, NCC
Hi, I’m Ariel!
As a therapist, I consider it a joy and a privilege to partner with individuals (preteens (11+), teens, and adults) in working through the inevitable challenges of life. I believe that each person has the capacity to change and to heal no matter the hand they have been dealt. With this perspective, I aim to collaboratively work with each person in gaining insight into their own strengths, as well as perspective on their pain, within the context of a safe relationship.
My approach to counseling incorporates trauma-informed cognitive behavioral interventions, contemplative mindful practice and considers the individual within the context of their relationships. With adults, I have experience supporting those encountering grief/loss, life transitions, trauma symptoms, low self-esteem & loss of identity. I use play and sand tray therapy when working with children (11+) and like to bring some of these creative elements into my work with teens and adults, as well. I have experience working with those seeking support for anxiety, depression, behavioral difficulties, relational issues, ADHD, and recovery from abuse or early childhood trauma. Additionally, I have experience working with those navigating divorce/dual households, as well as individuals who identify as LGBTQ+.
My background includes an undergraduate degree focused in speech therapy and audiology, as well as experience in early childhood education, case management, and the public education system.
In my personal time, I love to spend time with friends and family. I am actively involved with my Christian faith and consider myself a lifelong learner. I enjoy participating in my book club, trying new recipes, watching movies, exploring Portland and finding new ways to be creative!
If you or a loved one feel overwhelmed by life’s inevitable trials, I would be honored to assist you as you embark on your healing journey.
