I am devoted to helping people thrive instead of just survive. I want you to live out the fullness of what God intends for your life.
I offer compassion, honesty with discretion, Biblical insight and a broad range of experience to those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relational problems, parenting, grief and loss, life transitions, trauma, serious mental illness, stress and mood management. My clients include older adolescents, men and women, and couples.
I make use of evidence-based research, sound psychological understanding and recognized standards that are consistent with Biblical truth to promote emotional health and reconciliation in relationships. This approach involves partnering with you to explore and change thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and patterns in relationships in order to promote healing, reconciliation, and growth. My approach draws from cognitive-behavioral research, object relations and family systems theories. I respect the dignity and worth of all people and their rights to privacy, their own beliefs, to make their own decisions and be free of exploitation. I will work with you from your own perspective because you don’t need to hold to my beliefs or values to receive the best professional service I can provide.
I have worked in mental health since 1985. I researched marital and family communication at George Fox University while earning my Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. I’m licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in both Washington (PY60153263) and Oregon (1297) States. As a Licensed Psychologist I abide by the laws and code of ethics of Washington State Examining Board of Psychology and Oregon State Board of Psychology.
Prior to joining Charis, I worked in several inpatient hospitals, a community mental health center and in a private practice. As an ordained minister, I shared various teaching and ministries with fellow leaders in my church. Currently, I am the Clinical Director of Charis Counseling Associates as well as an adjunct professor at Western Seminary where I supervise graduate counseling students.
